A strong immune level equals to a healthy life. A strong immune system prevents one from being vulnerable to all kinds of illness.

To have a strong immune level, there is need to take the right kind of food and taking the right kind of food goes beyond eating only fruits. It is imperative to note that there are other foods which should be included in your diet which are beneficial to your health.

  1. Fatty Fish

Salmon, mackerel are rich in omega-3 fats. These fatty fish help reduce inflammation and also increase airflow and protects lungs from colds and respiratory infections.

  1. Chocolate

Unsweetened cocoa and cocoa powder may play a role in immune system health. Studies have shown that regular consumption of cocoa may reduce heart disease risk, help raise good cholesterol, and possibly reverse blood vessel damage in people with diabetes. However, ensure you keep the sugar and fat to a minimum.

  1. Yoghurt

Different studies have shown that the live cultures in yoghurt such as lactobacillus can protect the intestinal tract against gastrointestinal illnesses and increase resistance to immune-related diseases such as infection and even cancer. And the beneficial live cultures in yoghurt such as Lactobacillus acidophilus may help prevent colds and other infections.

  1. Foods high in protein and zinc

Foods that are high in protein are also high in zinc. These foods are lean meats and poultry.  Also, Zinc is a mineral that increases the production of white blood cells and T-cells, which fight infection. Great sources of zinc are: Oysters, nuts, fortified cereal, and beans

  1. Plenty of Liquids

Apart from eating healthy meals, you should also stay hydrated.

It is important you avoid sweetened beverages, like sports drinks and juice, as too much sugar in your body can cause inflammation and this further weakens your immune system.

Instead, ensure you take hot tea because it is a great way to stay hydrated, provide warmth and comfort to an irritated and inflamed throat and help relieve congestion.
