Image result for avocadoAvocado which is also known as an alligator pear or butter fruit. They contain lots of vitamins and minerals for the body. They are a stone fruit with a creamy texture that grows in warm climates.

They provide a lot of health benefits which are:

1.     Prevents Osteoporosis

Avocados contain vitamin K which is essential for bone health. Eating a fruit like Avocado which contains an adequate vitamin K can support bone health by increasing calcium absorption and reducing urinary excretion of calcium.

  1. Lower risk of depression

Avocado is a fruit that contains folate may help to decrease the risk of depression. This is because folate helps to prevent the build-up of homocysteine, a substance that can impair circulation and delivery of nutrients to the brain.

Excess homocysteine can also interfere with the production of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which regulate mood, sleep, and appetite.

  1. Improves digestion

Avocado is high in fibre which prevents constipation, maintains a healthy digestive tract, and lower the risk of colon cancer.

  1. Protection from Chronic disease

According to the Department of Internal Medicine and Nutritional Sciences Program of the University of Kentucky, high fibre intakes are associated with significantly lower risks of developing coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and certain gastrointestinal diseases. Increased fibre intake has also been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and enhance weight loss for obese individuals.

  1. Boosts Eye health

Avocados can protect the tissues of the eye from sun damage and the formation of cataracts and macular degeneration. It is the fat content in avocado that helps the body absorb the carotenoid.
