Heart-friendly foods are not only good for your heart but are also good for weight loss and your general well-being.

Therefore, it is only good you include these hearts friendly food in your diet.

–    Oatmeal

Oatmeal is well known as a weight loss food but it is also good for your heart because it contains vitamin E, which is a well-known heart-protective vitamin.

–    Take fish high in omega-3s

Fish that are high in Omega -3s are nutritious and also healthy. They lower triglycerides and slows the rate of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Examples of such fish are salmon, tuna, mackerel.

–    Tomatoes

Different studies have shown that tomatoes provide lots of benefits for the heart. This is because tomatoes are rich in potassium and lycopene and these two components have a positive effect on blood pressure and general wellbeing of the heart.

–    Healthy nuts

Healthy nuts such as almonds or walnuts will satisfy your hunger and help your heart. They are known to be a great source of plant-based omega 3 fatty acid, proteins, alpha-linolenic acid and fibre. This component helps to reduce risk factors for heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

–    Avocado

Avocados are packed with monounsaturated “good” fats and are the richest food source of phytosterols. They help reduce cholesterol level in your blood.
