Heartburn is felt when stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus (food pipe or gullet), down which food moves from the mouth to the stomach.  It is a burning sensation in your chest and throat. It could be as a result of what you ate, especially spicy, fatty, or acidic foods.
Heartburn can lead to a lot of discomforts. Therefore, adequate measures should be taken to help relief the heartburn. The adequate measures are below:
•    Practice proper posture
Bad posture can stand as a reason for heartburn because when you don’t maintain a good posture your internal organs are compressed. Try adjusting your body posture when you have a heartburn. In addition, maintain a good body posture to prevent heartburn. Also, wait for some hours after eating before going to bed.
•    Chew gum
You can neutralize the acid by chewing gum. Gum helps to increase saliva which helps to dilute and wash away or clear any acid that has built up in the gut quickly.
•    Avoid tight fitting clothes
Tight clothing can make your stomach feel uncomfortable and this can lead to heartburn. If that’s the case, the first thing to do is loosen your belt or your dress, or apron strings, or whatever else is holding you too tight.
•    Stop smoking
We are all aware of the dangers of smoking. Also, smoking can contribute to heartburn. Therefore avoid smoking and reduce your alcohol intake.
•    Lose weight
Excess weight can lead to heartburn making you feel uncomfortable. As such it is important you lose weight and stay fit.
•    Eat banana or apple
Banana can help relieve heartburn because it contains natural antacids that can help prevent heartburn. Also take apple once in a day.
However, if the heartburn occurs more often than usual.Consult your doctor for professional help.
