This helps to reduce the swelling also salts primary function within that context is to draw out water, which in turn shrinks the swollen cell and eases the pain. It also fights against bacteria and also helps wash away the excess mucous and allows your stuffy nose (if you have one) to drain properly. Prepare the salt water solution by taking out one cup of warm water and ½ teaspoon of salt, thoroughly mix it together and gargle thrice a day. This is very effective when properly done.

Over the years, honey has been known for its numerous benefits, one of those benefits is that it is a natural remedy for sore throat. This can be achieved by mixing honey in tea or by taking it alone. It also helps to cure cough. Studies has also shown that honey helps to speed up healing for sore throat.

Lemon and water

The nature of lemon is harsh as a result of this, it will help compress the swollen throat tissue and create an acidic environment for viruses and bacteria. This will chase away the bacteria and virus because they can’t work in such an environment. Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice in 1 cup water for the home remedy.

Though the smell of garlic can be discouraging but garlic has antibacterial and antiseptic properties along with other medicinal properties that can help treat or prevent sore throats. Eat garlic in raw or cooked form daily. Garlic has a chemical component known as allicin that helps kill the bacteria that may be causing the sore throat.

Keep food and drink at moderate temperature

Taking a cup of cold water can be really tempting because one might feel it gives this soothing feeling but in reality it does more harm than good. Also, taking a cup of hot tea will end up burning your throat and cause more pain. So try to take warm tea, keep your food in warm temperature in order not to worsen the pain.
